About Made for Marly
Thank you for supporting Made for Marly – handmade cloth nappies
This business was created by Aussie mother of two, Sam, who is passionate about the environment, sewing and of course, creating beautiful nappies for babies. All products have been lovingly handmade in Australia by like-minded, highly skilled women to bring you the highest quality products on the market.
A bit about the creator
Made for Marly came about completely unexpectedly. As a new mother who cares about the environment, I knew from the start that I wanted to use cloth nappies for my little girl. When my Marly was born she was early and tiny - so much so that for months even the trimmest of brands just didn't fit her right. I have been sewing all my life and so I started exploring the option of making my own nappies for Marly. And so the fun began!
I soon realised how many stunning fabrics there were on the market, and also how warm and welcoming the cloth community were to women such as myself who were keen to launch their own little businesses. And more importantly - I realised I wasn't ready to stop sewing nappies or all the other great baby and mum related products I discovered I could make!
It is such a joy to make these nappies and other products to share with the world, and I'm now excited to see how I can grow this business to put more Made for Marly products out into the world. I always welcome feedback so that I can perfect my creations and to hear how much my customers love their pretties.
At Made for Marly we are committed to "walking the walk", and are continuously looking to reduce the impact that we have on the environment. Below are the ways we are currently reducing our footprint.
We have a zero waste policy! This means that none of our scraps and off-cuts go to landfill. We are always looking at ways to use remaining fabric to make new products, and every little piece that can't be used by us goes to a textiles recycling program to be repurposed elsewhere.
While we know how lovely it is to receive beautifully packaged parcels, we also feel that this creates unnecessary waste. This is why we minimise our packaging, and leave just a simple thank you note which is now printed on 100% recycled card. We have also moved to using more sustainable postage parcels that can either be composted at home or reused, and if they do end up in landfill they will actually breakdown.
